All of our titles now provide authors with the chance to publish their articles as Gold Open Access, meaning that the articles will be accessible online for free to every reader around the globe. If you would like your article to be Open Access, you will have the opportunity to select this option once your article is accepted. Ale University Press will handle all submitted articles uniformly, ensuring thorough peer review, professional editing and production, as well as global visibility. Every article we publish receives the same level of functionality on our website.
Authors are required to pay a fee known as the article processing charge (APC) to publish their article as a Gold Open Access article. The cost for making your article Open Access is US $1579 for each accepted article.

How is the process carried out?

You are required to submit your article to the Ale University Press journal of your preference following the standard procedure. Once your article is accepted for publication, you will have the option to proceed with traditional publication or opt for Open Access. If you select the Open Access route, you will need to fill out the order form and choose an Open Access license type along with a payment method: either via credit card or by invoicing your institution or research funder, provided you have their consent. Subsequently, we will issue you a payment invoice.

What Open Access Licensing options do I have?

Ale University Press provides authors of Open Access articles with the CC BY Creative Commons license type.

As stated on the Creative Commons website: "This license allows others to distribute, remix, modify, and build upon your work, even for commercial purposes, provided they give you credit for the original creation. It is the most flexible of the licenses available. It is recommended for the broadest dissemination and utilization of licensed materials." Please verify the requirements of your research funder prior to choosing a license, as licenses cannot be altered post-publication.

What about copyright?

By choosing Open Access, you maintain copyright over your work; however, you must consent to the Open Access terms and conditions outlined in the Order form. This includes a guarantee that the article is original and does not infringe on anyone else's rights or violate any laws. Submitting to a different journal is prohibited.

What is permissible regarding the published article?

Articles that are licensed under either the CC BY or the previously available CC BY-NC-ND licenses can be posted on any website by anyone without any embargo; however, please note:

Articles that hold a CC BY license can be utilized for commercial purposes by anyone.

On the other hand, articles under the CC BY-NC-ND license cannot be used for commercial purposes by anyone and cannot be transformed or built upon to create derivative works by anyone except for you.

If you decide to post your article on any website or repository, it is essential to provide an acknowledgment in the form of a complete citation to the journal as the original source of publication, along with a link to the journal's webpage and/or DOI as soon as they become available. This information will assist in ensuring that the work is properly cited.
